The Xbox Beta app program gives fans an opportunity to provide early input on features and enhancements coming to the Xbox app on Windows 10, helping us shape the product based on fan feedback. Xbox Beta is an app that Microsoft rolled out to help gamers learn about the Xbox One console. Designed to work with Windows 10, it lets you share your feedback and get access to the data on your console over your phone or tablet. You need both a Microsoft account and Windows 10 to use this app. Last week, Microsoft launched the Windows 8.1 Release Preview, including some new updates for the Xbox entertainment apps on Windows. Here’s a snapshot of what you can experience with Xbox on the preview. Xbox Games With Xbox Games on Windows 8.1, we’ve created easy entry points into the games you love. The all new Xbox app (Beta) keeps you connected to the fun with your friends, games, and console from your phone or tablet while on the go. Easily share game clips and screenshots from your console.
Xbox One SmartGlass Beta has received a new round of improvements today, so users who are already running the app right now are recommended to update as soon as possible.
The new version comes with options to like a game clip or an item in the activity feed, but also with general stability and polish improvements, according to the official release notes published in the store.
“This is a Public Beta of Xbox One SmartGlass that provides an early peek at new capabilities. Use the feedback button in the app to let us know what you think,” Microsoft says in the app description, pointing out that this is still a beta and the company needs feedback in order to further improve it.

The feature lineup remains unchanged, so you get options to change TV channels on your Xbox One through OneGuide on SmartGlass, find and favorite TV channels, and view what’s on TV without interrupting what you’re doing on your Xbox One.
The application works only on Windows 8.1 and supports both desktop and tablets running this particular OS version, including Microsoft's very own Surface RT.

Been waiting over a month for my gamer pic request to be 'deemed acceptable'. Just trying to be patriotic and use the good ol' Stars & Stripes as my profile pic. What's going on, why such a delay?? I could totally understand if the image was copyrighted, racist, sexist or any of those other popular buzz words, but its NOT!! It's the American Flag for Pete's sake. What, is there a concern that someone is going to be triggered by the American Flag?!? Well, if that's the case, I'm triggered by some of these mongoloids missing a chromosome or two, who's gene pool could use some chlorine, posting their selfie. Some people's appearance should remain anonymous. I'll give it a little longer. If it doesn't change, I'll edit this to one star and uninstall. If it miraculously changes, I'll edit to five stars for sure.

Works fine on my laptop, but on my desktop it refuses to log me in. I get the error message 'Sorry, we can't log you in right now. (0x409) 0x80080300' Am I doing something wrong? The only reason I downloaded this was because the same thing happened with the other app.

Overall good app but oneguide is so laggy that it is nearly unusable on Lumia 950. Unable to enlarge screenshots and the resolution on the screenshots is very low. OneGuide has also been removed. This was a great feature...

Windows 8 Xbox Games App
I downloaded the Xbox beta app to create a custom gamerpic for my gamertag. The new app easily allows that to happen and I was surprised at the ease. Unfortunately, this app is near useless since the friends list has not once displayed the friends list and consistently says 'We can't show your friends right now. Try refreshing the app.' on every start up. This negates the purpose of the app, which is to allow seamless interaction between windows 10 and Xbox One features, and requires me to use the Xbox smartglass app on my phone (which is painfully slow) to see who is online and who isn't. It is aggravating to experience the same issues with the base Xbox app on the new Xbox app. When I am in a party with my friends the app works very well and never crashes. The store could use some streamlining in my opinion and isn't as good as the Xbox One store on console. My rating will remain low unless the friends list is fixed which I doubt will ever happen.
